Welcome to the WITCC Library: Library Policies

Check Out Procedures

Books can be checked out for three weeks at a time. Renewals are allowed. Renewals can be made in person, over the phone, or with an e-mail.

Students, WITCC employees, and community members can use their WITCC issued identification number to check out books. In the case of community members, community members can use their Sioux City Library issued cards to check out books. Sioux City Library cards must be active in order to check out books from the WITCC Library at the time of check out. Community members cannot check out laptops, chargers, or reserves.

Patrons will be sent check out notifications and reminder e-mail to the e-mail of preference when patron profile was set up. Patrons will need to notify Library staff when to update e-mail or other communications on profile. It is not up to Library staff to contact patron any other way to remind patron of checked out book(s) or materials. Any other reminder notifications, or attempts of reminders are done at the availability of the Library staff. Additional reminders separate from the e-mail system is not guaranteed with every check out.

Late or overdue book(s) or materials (unless laptop or charger) will be counted as such when the book(s) or material is over three weeks from the due date. This will make the patron unable to check out book(s) or materials on their profile and a hold will be placed on their account. Late or overdue laptop and chargers will cause a hold on account one day after late notice. Holds on accounts will result in the college holding onto transcripts and degrees and leads to students unable to sign up for classes for upcoming semesters (if applicable).

Reserves Check Out

Reserves check out is available for students and employees. Reserve check out duration is determined by instructor (semester, day, or only in Library). Late or overdue reserves indicated as semester check out will be processed as normal check out. Overdue day or in Library use only book(s) or material will be processed as the same as overdue laptop and chargers.
