We strive to
- Provide resources, services, and programs that enhance the student learning experience at Western Iowa Tech.

Diversity and Inclusion
- Create programming to raise awareness of cultural issues and celebrate the diversity of our student body
- Curate a collection of works by authors of color, women, LGBTQIA+ and people of all abilities.
- Curate a collection of works that represents the history of these diverse bodies.
- Provide equitable access to all students at all campuses
- Work closely with Dean of Diversity and Inclusion to ensure all practices are inclusive and culturally appropriate.
- Hire and retain student workers that reflect the diversity of our campuses.
- Recognize and celebrate holidays recognized by our diverse student body
Student Support
- Maintain a clean, safe environment
- Maintain an environment that is conducive to all types of learning.
- Provide research assistance and programming to enhance student understanding of the research process.
- Provide access to peer reviewed journals and other academic works.
- Assist students with technology issues, printing, and ebook access
- Support transfer readiness
Teaching and Learning
- Assist faculty with using instructional materials in their classes.
- Expand the collection to meet the needs of faculty and students.
- Provide programming for faculty regarding copy right and fair use standards.
- Assist faculty who are creating courses with zero textbook cost and open education resources.
- Engage with faculty and faculty trainers to provide an environment to deepen pedagogical practices
- Provide program materials as required by accrediting bodies
Campus Life
- Work closely with Student Activities and Residence Life to create and support programming across campus.
- Host special events intended to enhance the student experience
Fiscal Responsiveness and Sustainability
- Evaluate the cost and usage of resources to ensure funds are being allocated appropriately.
- Eliminate collection and subscription items that are not being utilized by students and faculty.
- Invest in low to no cost practices wherever possible.
- Collaborate with Executive Director of College Development to identify opportunities to raise funds specific to library services.
Civic Engagement
- Provide programming that engages students in current local and world issues
- Maintain a leadership program for students
- Provide access to college and community services
- Promote Life Long Learning events
Continuous improvement
- Review Library usage statistics monthly
- Modernize library practices
- Develop an outreach plan to promote library usage
- Identify and address community needs and gaps in service
